There’s a reason I am fascinated by beaches. The very thing that is considered the epitome of soothing, calm and serene can, in an instant, turn into the most violent, merciless and relentless being (so to speak) ever. When you look at a calm sea, it is next to impossible to imagine those gentle waves as being ruthless and stormy, trashing about, threatening to plunge anything in their path into its depths. The calm before the storm, the calm after the storm and all that in between. It’s a miraculous transformation!Quite like some people’s (by which I obviously mean me) moods. Some people have the most deceivingly calm exterior! Everything is sweet and rosy on the surface but you never know what kind of fierce volcanic eruption is about to happen. Occasionally you might see a few bubbles rising up to the surface but before you can look again, there are gentle ripples in the water and you are left thinking your eyes are playing tricks on you. Its only after the eruption happens and the water gets boiling hot with fire balls raining down on you that you realize you have sorely underestimated the person! Yeah we are one of a kind. And not easy to handle 😉

Anyway, this skirt is the fourth of my designs, which I wore on one such evening for dinner by the beach. One moment it was a lazy, peaceful evening with the sea breeze blowing  and delicious hot food in front of us. And five minutes later we were all shivering and disheveled with hair that looked like a bird’s nest munching on soggy pasta. The only good thing about that night was that I got to debut my self-designed printed pencil skirt and later snuggle in bed with a coffee in hand.

I am the last person to follow fashion trends. No. Like literally the last person. So I was pleasantly surprised to discover that this pencil skirt which I’d designed months back happened to be ‘the’ color of the year. A skirt in a color that reminds you of sunsets splashed with random colors of hot pinks, reds with hints of purple, a pretty lace blouse and comfy flats and you are all set for an evening by the beach!

This one was from a handloom store. Rest are all from regular shops where you get material for salwar kameez. No particular fabric shop as such! 🙂 Just go for slightly thicker materials.. easier to work on them.
