Delicious days: Thea Bar & Kitchen

May 9, 2014
Looking at me nobody believes that I am a foodie. Mostly because people have a totally wrong notion about what a ‘foodie’ means. It doesn’t mean you need to pig out at every meal. Doesn’t mean you have to overload on junk food all the time. Doesn’t mean that you have to be in the mood to eat at any given instant. And lastly it has nothing to do with a person being fat or thin! It is more of an ardent and refined taste, more of a hobby than just eating out of hunger or convenience (that’s what wikipedia says!)I love exploring new joints, tasting different cuisines and experimenting with my choice of dishes. I am always up for trying something new and exciting. Since I end up going to a different place almost every weekend, I thought it would be fun to document some of the places that I really enjoyed because of the ambience and food.

Thea Bar and Kitchen is this really cozy place on Road no: 82 in Filmnagar. Although the cuisine says Mediterranean, I mostly found it to be a mix of Italian, Chinese and Indian! But after a few bites of food, you’d be ready to call it Timbuktu cuisine for all you cared, ‘coz the food is really that delicious! We started with Mongolian panneer, which true to its name looked quite confusing but tasted fabulous! It was basically panneer with sweet chilli sauce, with just the right amount of tangy and spicy. Why they had to name it Mongolian.. I have no idea! Next up, was stuffed roasted mushrooms – button mushrooms stuffed with cheese, chilli flakes, jalapenos and roasted – served with a dip. It was more on the spicy side but other than that, it was equally tasty.

For the main course it was Hong Kong fried noodles. Another weird name for a chinese item that has nothing to do with being mediterranean! I love my veggies and this had a good helping of almost every vegetable – crispy and fried to perfection. They also have a wide variety of pastas and risottos, which I definitely plan on trying next time. Its a cozy place with delicious food. Don’t go expecting mediterranean food (I think there are a couple of dishes with eggplant but that’s about it!). But do expect delicious food (whatever the cuisine), friendly staff, quick service and a quite and lovely ambience.
