Without a doubt, the Mehendi function is the most chilled out and relaxed ‘party’ for any bride-to-be. All you need to do is sit back looking all pretty and get mehendi on your hands, while your friends and family keep you entertained. Of course, if you are the kind who finds 6 hours of mehendi more like torture than pleasure, then you would disagree! But all in all, it still is one of those functions where you can go crazy and quirky with the decor, the theme, the outfits and have as many cute photo props as you like. A mehendi function leaves a lot of room for experimentation. It’s all about color, fun and frolic where you get a chance to enjoy with close friends and family before you are thrown into a chaos of rituals and poojas, that is the big fat indian wedding.
Since I’d taken it up as a challenge to style various kinds of wedding looks while trying out different pieces from Khazana Jewellery, I went ahead with a perfect look for an intimate Mehendi function as well. When I think of Mehendi, my brain immediately thinks about locations that have a lot of space, a lot of natural light, a lot of bright colors and plenty of comfortable seating. One such location that meets all the mentioned criteria is Casbah, at The Westin Hyderabad Mindspace which is a roof top Mediterranean restaurant that has opened recently. With its colorful decor, low seating with cushions all around, and the blue and white mosaic, it literally transports you to a Mediterranean paradise.
For the look, I chose a bottle green anarkali with a hint of red, something that would be easy to wear and sit through the entire function. For accessorizing the look, I picked an intricately designed waist belt (vaddanam) in gold, that perfectly accentuated my waist and the flare of the dress. I also added a short diamond necklace with emeralds, and a longer one that ended just above the belt. A pretty ring and bracelets on each hand completed my simple mehendi look. Since you’d be spending most of the function either sitting down or dancing around, it’s best to keep jewelry minimal. With pieces like these you can make sure you are dressed up and looking like a bride-to-be, and at the same time not go overboard.
The location as you can see is picturesque! Casbah situated at the Elevate lounge of the Westin Hyderabad Mindspace is a place to rewind with your favorite Mediterranean finger food in a Middle Eastern ambiance with low seating and arched wall surroundings which would give you a feeling of living the experience. A true depiction of the Middle Eastern culture giving a sense of warmth and comfort as you enter Casbah, a patio open to the sky with a large fountain would truly mesmerize and ask you to ponder more. We also got to sample the starters that they have, prepared by their chef Mukesh.
