Puckered lips, pouting faces and duck faced selfies.. I guess the perfect lips can make or break a photograph. The obsession for the perfect pout continues right from Angelina Jolie’s natural pout, Anushka Sharma’s much talked about (and hated) artificial pout and more recently Kylie Jenner’s Lip Kit that seems to have all the right shades and the right tools to achieve a perfect pout. My obsession doesn’t go do that extent but I do want my lips to be soft and well cared for. Last month VLCC sent across a huge box of goodies to try out. One of them was their range of Lovable Lips by VLCC lip balms. They come in seven different flavors: Strawberry, Cherry, Mango, Honey, Almond, Rose and Orange. They come in colorful little packages with a transparent plastic cap. The strawberry, cherry and rose have a lovely natural tint that is similar to a light everyday wear lipstick. It is non sticky and matte with only a slight hint of shimmer. The fragrance too is pretty mild and that’s how I prefer it to be!
I’ve been using these extensively over the past one month. Come winter, and my lips are always in a dire need for a balm or a chapstick. These lip balms offer a slight hydration and a hint of color on your lips, the three that I mentioned leave a hint of color, rest like the mango, honey and orange flavors leave a yellowish tint on the skin when swatching but none on the lips, but other than that they don’t have any moisturizing powers that would soften your lips. Since it is not that creamy as a lip balm usually is, I prefer to use it over scrubbed lips as it doesn’t provide long lasting moisture otherwise. But the good thing is that it has an SPF 15 which would help save your lips from uncalled for tanning and pigmentation.
Overall the three shades of strawberry, cherry and rose are the ones that I have been using repeatedly. But I more so use them for the lovely tint that they provide rather than their moisturizing capabilities. Priced at INR125 each, I would say you can give them a try once for sure!
*I’ve been sent these products for the purpose of review, but all opinions are my own
