Her Looks

Be Fierce

October 16, 2017

There are so many success stories that we hear about/read about each day, each one of them inspiring us, motivating us and giving us that little nudge in the right direction in it’s own way. If there’s one takeaway that I have had from each of these stories, it’s that you need to be fierce to move ahead in life.

Fierce in terms of having a goal and wanting to achieve your goal. Fierceness is not about taking huge steps or receiving accolades every single day. It doesn’t always mean that others recognise your work or your worth every second. It doesn’t always mean that you intimidate failure and succeed in everything you do every single day. Sometimes, fierce is quite, it’s in the patience that you show while waiting for the right moment, it’s in the determination that silently works it’s way on you every morning that you wake up. Fierceness is in-built. It’s not something that you show off to the world or shout from the rooftops. If you have it in you, it will shine through your eyes, your words and your actions. It’s not about numbers, or approval from your peers, not about winning the rat race or trying to excel at the same thing that everybody else is doing. Staying true to yourself is fierce. Being afraid of choosing a different path, yet choosing it nonetheless is fierce. It requires a unique combination of courage, determination and patience. The number game in the blogging industry doesn’t look like it’s going to slow down any time soon. People say that I’ve lost tons of opportunities to others because I didn’t have the ‘right numbers’. I don’t look at them as a ‘loss’. Not mine anyway!

Every time I think of quitting blogging (yes, I have had that thought quite often even though I love what I do), I need to keep reminding myself that my journey is different and will always be that way. Different, not in comparison with others, but in terms of what I thought it would be and what it is today. I need to keep reminding myself that even though the big picture looks slightly different, I did achieve all the little milestones that I kept for myself. From executing that particular concept I had in mind since years, to supporting myself and my family solely through what I earned through my blog, to using my blog as a portfolio to transition into other roles such as consulting, digital marketing & strategy where I could work with & help build businesses.

I still crib that I need to chase payments. I still haven’t worked with as many brands as I thought I would. Because, that list just keeps on increasing and there’s no end to it! Despite the mess that social media has become today(more on that later!), I still have goals, I still wake up buzzing with creative energy and I still fiercely love what I do!
