Desi twist to a Videsi holiday!

Hello February!

Have you ever wondered why we tend to ‘greet’ each new month in our social media posts? Hello February, Welcome March, Let’s do this June…!

I guess that feeling of something new, a fresh start, a brand new day – it fills us with hope, it makes us feel that whatever screw ups happened in the past month can be left there. In the past. It makes us feel we have something good to look forward to. New plans to make, scheduling our day-to-day activities and attacking our goals with renewed vigour.

I know a lot of people dislike the hype surrounding these ‘fresh starts’ and ‘special days’. What’s the big deal about New Year’s? It’s not like you’ll suddenly wake up on January first as a new and improved version of yourself. You’ll still have the same old problems you had a day before, probably more since you’ll also be suffering from a hangover. Same goes for Valentine’s Day or Mother’s Day or another day for that matter! Commercialisation of the holiday, spending insane amounts on gifts that are forgotten about the very next day, making a huge fuss about it on social media for the sake of those precious likes and follows – these are just some of the issues.

BUT, whether you agree or not, I think life is short, and if you have an extra day or a specific day, or even a special day to celebrate something or someone, go for it! It becomes one of those issues (mentioned above), only if you make it one! The first month of 2019 has gone pretty well for me. And I want to make sure February is right on its heels. So all my focus is going to be on making this month as special, cheesy and romantic as possible because, why the heck not!

Keeping up with the spirit of the month, my very first outfit post for February is a slight twist on your usual V-day look. It had to be something pink but with a desi twist to a videsi holiday! What do you think?
