Suddenly I see every social media influencer and Youtuber talk about the book “The Secret” and how following the concept of “law of attraction” has brought about every good thing in their lives – personal & professional. Everywhere I turn (rather scroll), there are people saying believe in the universe, attract and manifest your dreams into reality. Honestly, I have no problem with the underlying concept of it all. After all it is about training your mind to keep a positive outlook on life, focussing on the right things, maintaining a disciplined life and all that good stuff. But the way people talk about this whole “law of attraction” business is a load of bull. The entire concept has been twisted into some gimmick where some genuinely naive people are fooled into thinking that just wanting and wishing for something badly is enough to make it come true. There are about a hundred other steps between wanting a luxury car and the day you actually get to own one.
The problem with those few people who have tasted success easily is that they think that formula works for everyone. Yes some people have had it relatively easy. A combination of luck, hard work, timing, knowing the right people and of course “believing in the universe”. If this was a sure shot success formula, it would work for everyone! And it’s dangerous when they start to promote that train of thought – Believe in the universe. Attract what you want. And voila! It’s in your life.
Yeah. You wish.
Instead work on questioning yourself as to what you really want. Introspecting your decisions. Finding a mentor. Reading a lot. Trying many different approaches. Learning when to stop, let go and start something new. Being open to change and growth. That’s how you attract what you really need in life. That’s all I have to say!
Moving on to the outfit, the second look in the series “Indian Jewellery Pairings” where I’ve paired these gorgeous oxidised jhumkas from Nadira with a jumpsuit and a skull printed scarf. I think they go perfectly well together! What do you think of this look and the previous one?
