More than half the people in my life don’t know the concept of blogging and its really tough to have a conversation about my blog with them, without making a mess of the whole situation! Β There are some things that they just don’t get, even though they are vigorously nodding their heads to your explanations. Like why would anyone want to share what they wear everyday with a thousand strangers? Isn’t posting pictures of yourself every single day heights of narcism? Why would anyone do this if not for the comments and compliments? That’s your real intension right? If you have time to do all this you must be really jobless.Well dear Anons and Not-So-Anons, if you think that being interested in clothes makes us ‘shallow’, I wonder what I should call you for your ingenious way of thinking. Yes I am interested in fashion, clothes and shopping. Proudly so. But that is one tiny part of my life (although its a part that I thoroughly enjoy).
But that does not mean I spend a bomb every week and it also does not mean I eat, sleep and live in malls. Shocking revelations right?
But that does not mean I spend a bomb every week and it also does not mean I eat, sleep and live in malls. Shocking revelations right?
I like to dress smart. I like keeping my outfits simple and stylish. I also have a brain that I am not afraid to use. I can be assertive but not to the point of arrogance.
So why don’t you just quit trying to ‘understand us’ and go do what you do best. Leave behind all this and let us bloggers blog away in peace!
Don’t you guys agree?

I find that the friends of mine who don't understand (and there's thankfully only one) is just pretending to not understand. No, it's not narcisim. It's a way of making money, or just doing something besides the boring butt jobs we do during the day. Oh, and it's an excuse to buy stuff hehehe. In any case, my friend told me that I'm just obsessed with the way I look to which I replied, what, as opposed to not caring at all? That shut her up. Bottom line, if you don't have something good to say, shut up! I just hate explaining to passersby as I take shots of myself what a fashion blog is…people can be very aloof!
Loving the yellow top btw π I must buy something yellow this spring!
http://www.plentyforpennies.blogspot.com
There will always be people who agree and disagree. That's simple life. However, as it is for blogging, I don't even talk about it to those who won't understand. It's kind of a my thing only, and it's awesome to have something to myself only π So best thing you can do- don't even bother to explain yourself while blogging your heart away0 that's what I do! π
Have a beautiful day!
Good luck!

Love the yellow kurta…and hope the tongues stop wagging now! π
I just see it as fun! I love looking at other gals outfits and it's especially fun when they live in another country and the styles are different.
hell yes! I totally agree! π
Surely!
i also concur – with everything you said and what the other commenters posted π with that said, blog on! we understand… and we love it!
plus, i love the art of documentation; it's technology and how one chooses to use it π if one day this was still up and i could share with my future kids – assuming i have any – my life captured in real time… that'd be priceless for me!
eheh.

Just let these people go, i mean if they comment on out blogs about us being brainless and totally lost in fashion it is because they would like to do it and they are not enough bold, that's why they comment as anonymous.. Cowards…
BTW i love your tunic!!
Outfits are great:). Updated my blog.
Fortunately or not, I am yet to experience a situation wherein I have to explain in length what 'fashion blogging' is all about..In my case these people (as observed by me) are just surprised (the God knows what she is talking about one) when I mention I have a fashion blog!!
But yes they do nod in full appreciation and nod to signify that yaaaaa I know it all too π
Love that yellow..its cheerful π
I absolutely agree with you but people who are afraid of things they dont know or understand get on the defensive.
I agree its a pain but honestly I am humbled my the larger community out there who takes time to understand me and what I find passionate….it may seem narcissistic to some but we know better…
I don't think too much about what they think so that helps! The sunny yellow is so wonderfully Indian. You rarely see this shade here.
Totally concur, you actually have something to say/exhibit and make the effort to do it rather than watch the action and pass judgement later.
Two hoots to people who judge.
Loved the peachy white sandals and the yellow and grey is my fav combination..Ur a fashion freak i sayyy

what's worse that even fellow bloggers often find t difficult to get what we are doing..for instance i had absolutely no clue about fashion blogging until i accidentally hit on yur blog page sometym last year…..
I hear ya…it's not easy to have conversations with people about a blog, what it entails and the aspects of companies asking you to help them create brand awareness. Love the yellow tunic top and I scrolled down love the white one too!
I know just what you mean… Although none of my friends have been judgemental of my blog, most of them don't really understand the appeal of it, particularly since it involves so much work. What can I say? I love it, so I keep doing it. Simple enough.
Speaking of love, your yellow kurti is stunning! And I would never have guessed it, but those gray skinnies are the perfect match for it.
xox,

Great tunic!

You are so damn right!! π People just like to comment and they think blogging is like a piece of cake. They do not have ANY idea of the effort that goes behind making each post worth it!
By the way you look lovely! π
Xoxo. π
Surabhi. <3
Agree…every single line written…I have given up on explaining my love for earrings and the reason for starting an exclusive blog for the same to people around. Most of the people around me brand me as an earring obsessive person which I am but, still wouldn't wanna agree just cause someone else thinks so…
I get a lot of support from people in my life but there are always going to be the haters who call you a narcissist. Screw them. Doing what we love and getting support from others is enough! Love your bright ensemble. Yellow looks great on you!
http://theclosetintervention.blogspot.com/
I hear you! Maybe it is just ignorance. I have found myself explaining what a BLOG is, so perhaps they just dont understand the concept as a whole! Thanks you for stopping by my place. I love finding new blogging friends. I will follow on my way out and I will come visit again. Cheers SpecialK XoXo
well… if it was not for you, how would a fashion-challenged person like me know the latest trends? if i have to give the single reason for being on blogger, i would say diversity… so many people with so many ideas…
Agree !!….Love that yellow

liked the yellow kurta and I think after this post people will stop bugging you π π
Totally agree with what you have to say. But, I have stopped myself bothering of it:-)
Love the color of the kurti! Been following you since a while now, and absolutely adore the way you compose them. Have a little walk through my blog. Hope u like it!

my blog is the story of my life, i hope you can read all my posts to understand that its different from others π
take care. greetings from italy.

I know what you mean… I didn't even consider telling my colleagues, for example, that I have a fashion blog. I'm sure they would think it's strange & superficial. My family & friends, on the other hand, have been very enthusiastic about it. That's just how it is – not everyone can understand everything about you. The important thing is that blogging makes you happy, & it can inspire your readers & make them happy too. Plus, you get to discuss things you love with people from 5 continents. So why the hell not?
cute outfit!

Your outfit is so cool..& I laugh at this*stolen from Sis* haha

nice post, love the outfit!
I totally agree!! Just tell those people “I look good, wear great clothes and deserve being put up on a public forum. Its a pity you can never understand what that means”. They'll buzz off I swear π
Assertive is good but at times trust me, so is arrogance. When people point a finger at you, don't let it be. I've always believed in hit where it hurts. Stick to it. You'll come out in flying colors.
I love the kurti, I have a whole bunch lying in the most unused corner of my cupboard. Might reach out to them after this.
I found a gray pair of jeans finally!! And they fit like a dream. Thanks to you I picked it up!!
TOTALLY AGREE!!!!! I love the world of blogging and getting inspiration from my fellow lovely ladies… I love your dress with jeans by the way π

There is a saying in Malayalam-“Mangayulla maavile aalugal kalleriyaal ollu”, which roughly translates to “People throw stones at only those trees that bear fruits”. People judge you and criticize you because you have something they don't- a brain. And a sense of style. Listen to them through one ear and pass it out through the other. That's all there is to it sweety. π Your pics and fashion sense add colour to the lives of people like me who have absolutely no sense of dressing. So please don't stop it, no matter what useless people say. Wogay?
people will always be judgmental.let them be…. i think what matters more is you enjoying your 'that' part of your life…
and i love the look, as i told you i have lately become fascinated with kurtas and everything..you just stole my intentions of telling you to do some indian wear post!!
π
Brilliantly put! I agree completely. We all just share a love for fashion, there's no narcissism in that. You look so pretty, its a great color on you
Great post. Peoplel will always have opinions but you have to do what you love.

I agree!
I like that you addressed this issue, Its one I myself have faced many times!
Many people do not know this but putting up a blog takes tonnes of effort – from pictures, to the outfit, to the location and the writing.
Yeah, style bloggers maybe perceived as over-indulgent narcissists but I'd like to think that we're a bunch of well-dressed, creative, intelligent people π
Yup I totally agree! Keep up the fabulous work π xo
Well said! Indeed only a blogger can understand a fellow blogger. People just don't get the whole concept of blogging. The story is same for all bloggers, if its not “Why are you sharing your pics with the world?” Its “How can be share your life with total strangers”?
Truly speaking I am more comfortable sharing my thoughts and feelings with Blog-o-friends rather than with the so called friends!
Well luckily we (bloggers) are not alone and we do understand each others! That's why we share the same interests and passions, that's why we can communicate properly! Don't pay attention to another sort of people…;)
p.s. U look adorable in yellow tones!!!:)

I believe blogging is a hobby as well as a channel of thoughts and expression. I don't tell people I know about my blog because I want to keep it exclusively and there is no reason for me to explain why I do what I do. it is like my liitle getaway destination where I can be whoever I want to be, say whatever I want to say and express my inner side.
Only bloggers can understand what blogging is all about.
Lovely photos. I like your style. You look very nice. Maybe we can follow each other?
http://www.fashionmechic.com/
Agrees to the fullest extent. <3
I haven't told many people that I blog. And the point that those who don't blog would find it difficult to understand, is one of the main reasons.
And I have a pair of grey jeans too. (That I wear almost everyday. XD)
Love your blog!!!! I start following on GFC, hope you'll check my blog and follow back if you like it!!!! xoxo

Great post! It's hard for other people to understand blogging (especially style blogging) if they are not involved in it. My style represents myself… so I'm not just sharing what I'm wearing, I'm trying to express myself.

I think people who are anti-blogs are really anti-communication. I think so many of our problems as a species are based on our inability to communicate well. So don't ever let anyone stifle your voice! Keep blogging, keep writing, and stay well.
This is so true. Even Tanvi did a post recently about the redundant conversations we end up having with non bloggers. It's infuriating to say the least. And that is why hardly anyone in my 'real life' knows that I have a blog. The last thing I want is 100 people asking me why I write what I write.
Hello, i just found your blog, i confess that im used to read the first two lines from every single fashion blog i visit, and most of the times i dont feel like keep reading the rest. But i have to admit that i couldnt stop reading what you wrote till the end. I totally agree with you, some people find fashion blogs vanal, I started my fashion blog as a hobbie, something for myself, but i have found that there is people out there that really likes what we (fashion bloggers) do. I really liked your personal style, and your words in every post. Have a nice week. Following your blog. Kisses.
Tagged you in my latest blog post π
love the colour on you!

i totally agree with you that alot of people dont understand the concept of blogging (not just fashion blogging..) I tell my cousins about my job as a blogger and they still find it weird as if I'm lying to them.. oh well.. at least we got some great things to show ! π

Yes! I completely agree with everything you've said here. I love that you're speaking your mind. If only all these people knew how HUGE the fashion blogging community is – they'd be baffled.
Great post!

Excellent point! It's hard even explaining why I like dressing up and shopping with anyone I know because none of my friends like clothes, fashion, or shopping. So I rarely talk about my blog.
You look gorgeous in yellow! And that tunic is so pretty. thanks so much for visiting and commenting on my blog! <3

nice photographs π
I agree with you. I'm also new in blogging. Just two months old actively. Most people who knows me are flabbergasted when I start a blog. Because I hate taking picture of myself. I see it as a creative exercise. I work in advertising industry so taking photos for fashion blog is a good exercise for photography, art direction and styling. Plus i can express myself fashion wise and providing links of my outfit to potential buyer. People often ask me where I purchase my stuff. So you can see it in a way you are also helping others :p. I really enjoy your writing. Yellow looks really good on you. Beautiful tunic. Love the print

I agree with you. i dont have a lot of people who haven't understood, just a few… but I think its cause they're from really small towns and fashion is NOT a big deal for them.
But I like it too. I love your shoes too!
I agree. Also like to praise the people who don't understand but are supportive even still though.x

I love reading what other people have to say, and blogging is just another facet of people's lives. In some instances I feel as though blogging is having a conversation with others.
I've also enjoyed your outfit posts! What you wear is so colorful!
I absolutely agree,Chandana. π
I definitely feel you. It's hard for some people to understand my passion for fashion but I simply don't care. We love what we love and that's all that matters. I don't question the things they hold dear so I expect the same respect. Anyhew, that tunic is so fab!
Love your post and I agree it's so difficult for everybody else to understand what we (the bloggers) do! Keep loving fashion and share your style and thoughts you are amazing!!!!!!

blogging is a form of art- self expression- and it has not changed that people who have not yet been able to embrace that side of themselves will be critical of those who can. Also- just as in art- 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder'- thus with blogging- each person will gravitate to a particular blog which appeals to them. It is personal- and that is what blogging is all about.
oh wow i absolutely love this tunic darling!!! and you look so stunning here!
kiss,mary
http://maryloucinnamon.blogspot.com
Completely agree with your thoughts! I face the same, most of the time. And i wish people could understand that fashion is not about buying expensive clothing every other time you get to, flaunt it, be materialistic. There's so much more to it!
But in the end, the most i wish to do, is shoo their ideas and opinions away! π
P.S. Yellow look wonderful on you. π
just don't listen voices that try t put you down. In my case it's the same and I don't mind cause always trere's someone that tell's you how amazing is your blog and that's the main point π i'm new. do you want to follow each other? kisses from spain :))
http://www.lachicadelcuarto.blogspot.com
True π My people often wonder what keeps me hooked to my blog. I find it hard to explain its the mere satisfaction of being able to be yourself, express yourself and portray your real self without anyone judging you is what is so gratifying about blogging and the bloggers world π
And yes. The way a blogger can relate to it.I doubt anyone else can π
You're amazing! π
I know what you mean, it isn't just for fashion blogging but any kind of blogging. Some people don't get it, but I guess that's okay because not everyone gets everything. I avoid talking about it to people I know will not be able to appreciate blogging as a legitimate form of art or activity.
So nodding with all that you say-if only non bloggers and normal people understood us-that does not make us abnormal-just extraordinary:-)
