When you can’t afford to take long and expensive holidays, weekend getaways are the best. If only I could hop, skip, jump and end up at exotic locations like Greece or Spain as and when I wanted! It’s good to dream but equally important to know when to stop and get on with living in the present. So until I can make that happen on my own terms, I am perfectly satisfied with any number of mini-vacations, as long as I get to travel somewhere!A vacation to Pondy makes sense only if you are planning on staying over for at least four days, out of which you are willing to properly eat out for at least… well… four days! Pondy offers a lot in terms of different cuisines and cozy cafes. The beaches are okay but the main focal point is on the food. Two of my favorite places, without a doubt are the Indian Kaffe Express and Cafe Xtasi. The former for pancakes, crepes and parathas (they are to die for!) and the latter for their fire wood oven pizzas.
It’s on a calm street away from the hustle and bustle of the city. For some reason it’s never crowded when am there, except for one or two people tucked away in a corner sipping a drink and reading a book. Calm and peaceful with tasteful interiors and mouth watering food – no wonder I love it!
