Myntra All About You

November 27, 2015

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that Deepika Padukone has launched her own line, All about you, in collaboration with Myntra. I’ve never found these celebrity collaborations up to my taste. They were always either too expensive or something that my personal style couldn’t relate to at all. When it’s a creative collaboration I expect to see something different, something of that particular individual’s personality infused in the clothing line that they are co-designing. Not just their name tag and a price tag of 3000 bucks for a plain t-shirt. To be honest, at first glance I didn’t find anything appealing from this collection as well. But the more I had a closer look, the more I liked the simplistic designs, light material and flower prints. Plus it’s easy on the pocket as well! One of my first picks was this lovely floral peasant top that I could imagine styling in so many different ways.

One of the most frequent questions that I get is ‘how to dress up for Indian winter’. While my counterparts in the Northern part of the country wouldn’t face this problem, people in cities like Hyderabad, Mumbai and Chennai face a tricky situation when it comes to styling for winter. Do you dress up in a leather jacket and knee high boots at the risk of looking like a fool and sweating buckets? Or do you just give up on the fact that there is no winter? A lot of times I’ve wandered around stores and wondered why in the world are they stocking up on fur vests and faux leather jackets in a city like this when there is clearly no scope of wearing them anywhere outside the trial room? International brands are great, we all have our favorites, we all keep lusting over pieces that we can only add to our wishlist and hope that some day the store opens in our city. But when any top fashion brand decides to expand their presence in another geographical location, I think it is just as important to analyze various aspects of the place and design a collection suitable to the people, the weather and conditions of that particular place, rather than blindly replicate the same International stock here.

Also can we take a moment and bow down to these Levi’s 711 jeans? Eighty one years after launching their first women’s jeans, Levi’s has gone back to the basics and launched Lot 700 – jeans for every body shape. Undoubtedly the 711 Skinny is the most flattering for any body type, and they stretch and fit like a dream. I am almost tempted to buy a couple of extra pairs and just keep wearing these every single day! Being a Hyderabad blogger, I rarely get to experience full fledged winters. Which means I rarely get to dress up for winter. But a scarf here, a light jacket there and a cute pair of booties is how we fashionistas satiate our hunger for layering, cozy knits and winter fashion in general. I woke up on a cold chilly morning to shoot this casual and comfortable look.  Until that happens, you can still be winter ready by adding a few details to your outfit, without going overboard on the whole extreme winter wardrobe. And that’s just what I did on this chilly winter morning!
