This year I have consciously started using, re-using my existing wardrobe to its fullest extent and have been extremely choosy when it comes to shopping for clothes. A few years ago, I would have been utterly confused during sale season, either wanting to buy everything that I saw, or wanting to run away from the chaos until it died down. Now I have become extremely choosy and buy only items that I absolutely need. I’ve been planning to invest in both culottes and a pair of linen trousers for a while. When I saw this pair at Marks & Spencers I knew I had to pick it up immediately. Linen is that one material that is laborious to manufacture, but is extremely absorbent, cool, fresh and comfortable. I’ve always felt that it’s the kind of fabric that looks rich, elegant and comfortable all the same time. I paired it with a bright blue top and studded heels for the shoot. After driving through the narrowest lanes, asking for directions and still getting lost, we finally managed to reach this location, which my lovely photographer Arpita had spotted previously and decided it would make the perfect backdrop. I’ve been consciously trying to locate interesting backdrops for different shoots, just to add a bit of variety and spice things up.
This year seems to be the kind that is going to rush by leaving me in the dust behind. I’ve been working everyday on the website, on planning content and on some new projects that I’m excited to put into action! Almost twenty days have gone by and I have finally managed to put up an outfit post only now, although I have been blogging regularly. Usually every year, I do an year-end review post but I chose not to do so this time. Partly because it completely slipped from my mind and finally I didn’t have time to do it because it was too late, and partly because there were quite a few things that I’d planned for last year and they are still in-progress. So I decided to just skip it and do it whenever everything that I’ve planned finally falls into place.
So far this year I have decided to start my exercise regime and healthy eating, started with sketching again and I’ll soon be finishing up all my pending oil paintings and start taking new orders. And finally I’ve gotten back into the routine of reading my beloved books. Thanks to having finally purchased a kindle, I am managing to make time to read books. This is something I need to be a bit cautious about as it is easy for me to literally get addicted and devour one book after another and blissfully ignore work, and everything else around me. TV shows and book reading are now on a strictly time based schedule, so that I can dedicate enough time to painting, planning shoots and work. Instead of yearly goals, I’ve set up monthly and weekly goals, that not only makes it less overwhelming but also much easier to plan, achieve and tick off my checklist. And nothing gives me more satisfaction than seeing a list that’s been completely crossed off!
