Only bloggers understand bloggers!

January 23, 2012
More than half the people in my life don’t know the concept of blogging and its really tough to have a conversation about my blog with them, without making a mess of the whole situation! Β There are some things that they just don’t get, even though they are vigorously nodding their heads to your explanations. Like why would anyone want to share what they wear everyday with a thousand strangers? Isn’t posting pictures of yourself every single day heights of narcism? Why would anyone do this if not for the comments and compliments? That’s your real intension right? If you have time to do all this you must be really jobless.Well dear Anons and Not-So-Anons, if you think that being interested in clothes makes us ‘shallow’, I wonder what I should call you for your ingenious way of thinking. Yes I am interested in fashion, clothes and shopping. Proudly so. But that is one tiny part of my life (although its a part that I thoroughly enjoy).
But that does not mean I spend a bomb every week and it also does not mean I eat, sleep and live in malls. Shocking revelations right?

I like to dress smart. I like keeping my outfits simple and stylish. I also have a brain that I am not afraid to use. I can be assertive but not to the point of arrogance.

So why don’t you just quit trying to ‘understand us’ and go do what you do best. Leave behind all this and let us bloggers blog away in peace!

Don’t you guys agree?

I find that the friends of mine who don't understand (and there's thankfully only one) is just pretending to not understand. No, it's not narcisim. It's a way of making money, or just doing something besides the boring butt jobs we do during the day. Oh, and it's an excuse to buy stuff hehehe. In any case, my friend told me that I'm just obsessed with the way I look to which I replied, what, as opposed to not caring at all? That shut her up. Bottom line, if you don't have something good to say, shut up! I just hate explaining to passersby as I take shots of myself what a fashion blog is…people can be very aloof!

Loving the yellow top btw πŸ™‚ I must buy something yellow this spring!

There will always be people who agree and disagree. That's simple life. However, as it is for blogging, I don't even talk about it to those who won't understand. It's kind of a my thing only, and it's awesome to have something to myself only πŸ™‚ So best thing you can do- don't even bother to explain yourself while blogging your heart away0 that's what I do! πŸ™‚
    Have a beautiful day!
    Good luck!

I know what you mean… I didn't even consider telling my colleagues, for example, that I have a fashion blog. I'm sure they would think it's strange & superficial. My family & friends, on the other hand, have been very enthusiastic about it. That's just how it is – not everyone can understand everything about you. The important thing is that blogging makes you happy, & it can inspire your readers & make them happy too. Plus, you get to discuss things you love with people from 5 continents. So why the hell not?

There is a saying in Malayalam-“Mangayulla maavile aalugal kalleriyaal ollu”, which roughly translates to “People throw stones at only those trees that bear fruits”. People judge you and criticize you because you have something they don't- a brain. And a sense of style. Listen to them through one ear and pass it out through the other. That's all there is to it sweety. πŸ™‚ Your pics and fashion sense add colour to the lives of people like me who have absolutely no sense of dressing. So please don't stop it, no matter what useless people say. Wogay?

Well said! Indeed only a blogger can understand a fellow blogger. People just don't get the whole concept of blogging. The story is same for all bloggers, if its not “Why are you sharing your pics with the world?” Its “How can be share your life with total strangers”?

I don't tell people I know about my blog because I want to keep it exclusively and there is no reason for me to explain why I do what I do. it is like my liitle getaway destination where I can be whoever I want to be, say whatever I want to say and express my inner side.

This is so true. Even Tanvi did a post recently about the redundant conversations we end up having with non bloggers. It's infuriating to say the least. And that is why hardly anyone in my 'real life' knows that I have a blog. The last thing I want is 100 people asking me why I write what I write.

blogging is a form of art- self expression- and it has not changed that people who have not yet been able to embrace that side of themselves will be critical of those who can. Also- just as in art- 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder'- thus with blogging- each person will gravitate to a particular blog which appeals to them. It is personal- and that is what blogging is all about.

True πŸ™‚ My people often wonder what keeps me hooked to my blog. I find it hard to explain its the mere satisfaction of being able to be yourself, express yourself and portray your real self without anyone judging you is what is so gratifying about blogging and the bloggers world πŸ™‚
And yes. The way a blogger can relate to it.I doubt anyone else can πŸ™‚

I know what you mean, it isn't just for fashion blogging but any kind of blogging. Some people don't get it, but I guess that's okay because not everyone gets everything. I avoid talking about it to people I know will not be able to appreciate blogging as a legitimate form of art or activity.

So nodding with all that you say-if only non bloggers and normal people understood us-that does not make us abnormal-just extraordinary:-)
