For a long time, I’ve been thinking of creating something new in terms of content for the blog. Tired of endless scrolling on instagram, drowning in a number of similar stories being put up 24×7 and saturated with styling videos and #ootd posts of hundreds of people – it had to be put to a stop.
Content consumption was leaving me more exhausted than inspired, more bored that stimulated, and more fed up of the entire platform than motivated.
That’s when our #OGBlogger bunch came up with an idea to start a monthly series of creating images with a purpose, a story and a vision. All four of us have such distinct styles and personalities, and what could be better than trying to combine it all in a perfect amalgamation of fashion, style and artistic expression? The idea behind the series was to lend something different to the content being consumed everyday on social media. To combine our unique individual styling with a story and a theme that we had in mind. And in the process feature as many like minded brands and their work, their products in the editorial as possible, work with new and talented photographers, artists and other creators as well.
In other words, it was to build something that was bigger than just sharing an outfit post or a styling idea.
The first in the series titled “Light in Darkness” was an apt choice considering that this was created and published just in time for Diwali – a time for new beginnings and coming together of a community. The outfits we chose were light pastels, and the theme was dark and wild. Each image represents various concepts of what it means to celebrate life, the ideology behind the celebrations. A time for burning away the past, the bad, the evil. The triumph of good times & significant celebration and victory of light, love and joy.
